AKG Signaling: From Breast to Baby

Alkylglycerol lipids (AKGs) are ingested in breast milk. Macrophages in fat tissue convert AKG molecules into platelet-activating factor (PAF). PAF binds its receptor on the macrophages to stimulate the production and release of interleukin 6 (IL-6).
