A diagram of two neurons: One is the signal-sending neuron and one is the signal-receiving neuron. The signal-sending neuron sends an electrical signal through the axon, which forms a synapse on the dendrite of the signal-receiving neuron. The synapse is shown as an enlarged panel with the synaptic vesicles containing neurotransmitters and the receptors on the receiving dendrite. Read more
